The administrative side of jobs is much more than doing paper work. When I worked with Premier School Agendas, I was a part of Materials Resolutions. The company collects artwork to make custom planners for schools. My job was to contact schools regarding issues with their orders. To produce the planners on time we needed to receive the artwork in the correct formatting by a specific date. I spent my days coordinating with schools across the country to make sure these timelines were being met. Frequently, it meant also teaming up with the art team to problem solve ways to receive usable art. Due to my knowledge of the different aspects of the area I worked in and how well I had problem solved, I was chosen to take part in a training video.

My problem solving skills were very useful when I interned as an Administrative Assistant at A Child's Life Learning Center. My main responsibility was to schedule the proper amount of staff each week. The organization is small which brings its own set of challenges, because there are no extra staff if someone wants a day off or is sick. For times like this I had to make sure the that there were proper children-to-staff ratios. We were also going through some construction that caused us to close classrooms. With all of these things going on, I came up with some very creative ways to make sure we were following the guidelines set by the state while still creating a fun atmosphere for the children.

I facilitated staff meetings at Womencare Shelter and A Child's LIfe. These two organizations have very team oriented styles. For Womencare it was important to discuss the upcoming events of the shelter, any housing issues that had arisen and to encourage each other as a team. A Child's Life takes a different approach as the staff meetings usually have some sort of training built in. At the meeting I facilitated, we discussed how each staff member has a different love language and apology language. During the meeting people were able to voice ways that someone could approach them if there were a conflict (Agenda).

In addition to scheduling and running team meetings, I produced an informal proposal regarding new funding sources for the daycare. The Director was looking for ways to bring in a small amount of extra money throughout the year. I researched different fundraising opportunities that could include the children, parents and would be simple to produce. Before I left, we implemented one of the programs. The daycare now collects empty printer cartridges and recycles them. ACLLC can take them to an office supply store and receive a small amount back. This has helped them cut some of the office supply costs each month (Proposal).
